Want to use our data?
The Mission Climate Project’s foundation is a collection of geospatial and risk models being developed by TMP. The models blend inputs from existing general circulation and regional climate data models into a broader framework we designed to understand how climate impacts social and political stability. They are unique in three ways:
They focus on the impact of climate change in the 2020s, with a particular emphasis on extreme weather events
Many of them incorporate significant amounts of social, economic, political and/or demographic information
They employ a different approach to spatial resolution that aggregates high-resolution grid data into environmentally and politically coherent spaces
The social, economic, political and demographic elements of our models are created and developed by TMP. The climate elements of our models are being produced in collaboration with the IBS Center for Climate Physics using additional data customized for the project by the Woodwell Climate Research Center. We also use a wide range of publicly available datasets.
(If you have questions about the data, please refer to this page. Credits and acknowledgements are available in the data files.)
Although our most ambitious models are still in development, we have already produced several outputs that may be of interest and use to researchers. These are available free of charge under a use license that carries two conditions: 1) that you complete a brief training session in order to use them properly and 2) you agree not to use them in connection with the fossil fuel industry or fossil fuel production.
Please fill out the form below to indicate the dataset(s) that you would like to use, and we will respond with details.
